Sample Data Files for Web Intelligence BI 4.1 Book

Most of the sessions in the book can be practised using the default data and universes provided for eFashion and Island Resorts Marketing.

However, some functionality cannot be demonstrated using the default data and it is necessary to use the files provided on this page.

Please Note – You will need the help of your BusinessObjects Administrator with some of these files.

There are 5 downloads. Each is listed with comments to where the contents of the download are used within the training course.

BI41_D001eFashion Oracle Universe for Web Intelligence BI 4.x

Certain Web Intelligence functionality cannot be demonstrated using universes that are based on an underlying Microsoft Access databases, therefore in some examples we will be using a modified universe based on an Oracle database.

If your company uses Oracle then download this universe and use in examples where 'eFashion Oracle' universe is explicitly referenced.

You will need the assistance of your BusinessObjects Administrator to get this universe into your repository.

Note - You also need to download the scripts and instructions to create the Oracle eFashion data. Please see File ID BI41_D002.
BI41_D002Scripts and Instructions to create an Oracle eFashion BI 4.1 Schema

1 - Scripts to create empty Oracle tables for eFashion schema.
2 - Instructions to populate Oracle tables with data using Linked Tables in Microsoft Access.

You will need the assistance of your BusinessObjects Administrator and/or Oracle DBA to implement these scripts and instructions.

Note - These scripts and instructions contain no data.
BI41_D003eFashion Budget Data Microsoft Excel File

Used in "Using Local Data Sources in Web Intelligence Documents" to demonstrate how text files can be used as data sources using Web Intelligence Rich Client and Web Intelligence.

Simply download and save in a folder you have access to (network folder or locally on your PC). Recommended - Saving to a public network folder will enable other users to also access this file.
BI41_D004Instructions for Creating Custom SQL Objects in eFashion Universe

Required in session on "Using Custom SQL in Queries" to demonstrate how universe generated SQL can be manually modified.

You will need the assistance of your BusinessObjects Administrator to carry out these instructions in your default eFashion universe (or a copy of).
